2015 / Student Work
I'd be lying if I said I didn't have a soft spot in my heart for newborn animals. When tasked with creating an icon system for the Cincinnati Zoo and Botanical Garden, I was sure to do some infield research. I was inspired the "Zoo Babies" exhibit, where the love a mother has for her child is undeniably seen. This is one of the zoo's most popular attractions in the summertime, and yet their wayfinding system to locate each infant is very weak. I challenged myself to change this and create a new aspect of the exhibit by developing a wayfinding system that children could interact with. Through markers on the ground, a simple map, and final destination stations, children are able to take the Zoo Baby experience to the next level.
