Black Swan is a red Grenache wine from Australia. The bottle draws inspiration from a bird inhabited only in Australia, the black swan. These unique birds have a black feathered body and red beak, brought to life in the word mark I created by abstracting the ‘a’ in ‘black swan.' Culturally, humans have come to make a connection between black animals and the devil. The black swan, being the counterpart to the classically beautiful white swan, is seen as a symbol of seduction. Taste at your own risk—you may be seduced by the swan.
Bambooze is a Korean wine nearly clear in color and so strong that some consider it a spirit. What makes this Asian alcohol so special? You guessed it—Bamboo! Infused into the flavor of the wine are leaves plucked from bamboo, a plant that grows primarily in Asian countries. Because bamboo is the star of this wine, i designed in a way to honor the plant. The outer wrap is made from bamboo paper with a graphic bamboo icon die cut out of it. The text on the bottle is burned into the bamboo wrapper to avoid using the added element of ink. Instead, I worked with the natural material to keep it the only element on the bottle. Adult-tested, panda-approved!
Flavored wine is the latest trend rising in the wine world. These wines have a lot of personality, especially seen in some of the quirky the birthday cake flavors. Birthday Bottle is a strawberry cheesecake flavored Rosé wine. Simply put, it is inspired by the cake flavors within to celebrate the spirit of birthday festivities—getting drunk! The whole bottle serves as an infographic to correlate glasses drank with level of drunkenness. The pattern paired with each level of drinking correlates with the feeling you get as you go along drinking. Let’s face it—unless you reach the bottom of the bottle, you haven’t done your birthday right. And if you have done your birthday right...well you’ll be seeing about as straight as the ‘GLASS 5’ pattern of Birthday Bottle!
